Location details and information
Ben Franklin Range occupies 1,100 acres of varied terrain in Armstrong County with facilities designed around how serious shooters actually train. The centerpiece is a 6,000 square foot two-story shoot house with customizable rooms, multiple entry points, variable lighting, and Simunitions capability for force-on-force scenarios.
The range network covers multiple disciplines:
- •Turfed flat ranges – 50x100 yard configurations
- •Known distance – 600 yards
- •Unknown distance – 900 yards
- •Extended range – 2,500 yards
Live fire occurs 24/7/365 with no sound or time restrictions. This matters if you're doing night training or need flexibility that typical ranges can't offer.
Ben Franklin partners with Orion Training Group (OTG), a national organization led by Jared Arceneaux that runs courses for civilians, law enforcement, and military. OTG uses BFR as their preferred East Coast facility. The range also hosts an annual Team Sniper Competition.
The facility rents to: - Law enforcement agencies - Military units - Government agencies - Private training companies - US citizens (by inquiry)
On-site lodging sleeps up to 15 with full kitchen, kitchenette, three bathrooms, and secure equipment storage—useful for multi-day courses.
The property includes wilderness training areas, land navigation courses, and four helicopter landing zones. Their "Big Fun Rides" open the facility 1-2 times monthly for off-road recreation—Jeeps, Broncos, dirt bikes, ATVs can explore the 65+ miles of trails. Gates open 9AM, close 5PM. Admission: $25/driver, $20/passenger, kids under 12 free with family.
Themis Arms Center operates onsite by appointment, handling firearms and accessories sales. Ben Franklin partners with Geissele Automatics as their official range firearms supplier with demo and purchase options available.
