Champion Defense

Champion Defense L.L.C operates the Champion Defense Shooting Complex and Sportsman's Club at 2040 Pine Plain Rd. in Swansea, SC 29160. This is a controlled-access facility requiring gate card entry—not a walk-in range.

The complex includes multiple specialized shooting areas:

• •Handgun Bays - Limited to handgun calibers only. Steel targets must be 10+ yards away. No SBRs, pistols firing rifle calibers, or shotguns allowed.
• •Rimfire Bay (Handgun Bay 1) - Dedicated rimfire caliber use only. Centerfire ammunition strictly prohibited.
• •50-Yard General-Purpose Bay - Accepts handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Limited to pistol, shotgun game loads, frangible 5.56, .223, and 300 Blackout.
• •Rifle Bay - Single firing line with red light/alarm system. Supports long-range shooting at 50, 500, and 600-yard distances. Frangible ammunition required at 500+ yards. No 50 BMG, 300 RUM, or 338 Lapua.
• •Archery Bay - Recurve, compound bows, and crossbows only. No firearms permitted.

Safety First: CCTV monitoring, mandatory eye and ear protection, controlled cease-fire procedures with red light/alarm activation, and gate access cards ensure facility control.

Closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Check their website for periodic closure during scheduled events.

Champion Defense enforces strict operational procedures:

Before Firing: - All firearms on the firing line must be holstered or laid muzzle-downrange with slides open, magazines out, or cylinders open and empty - Eye and ear protection mandatory at all times - Keep finger off trigger until ready to fire - Treat all firearms as loaded

During Operations: - Members report rules violations to club officers immediately - Any unsafe condition triggers an automatic cease-fire declaration - Loitering prohibited in controlled areas - Smoking prohibited near firing lines and bays - NO alcoholic beverages on premises - NO armor-piercing, tracer, or incendiary ammunition - NO exploding targets or personal steel targets - NO firing from the hip or bump firing - NO bottles, cans, glass, or similar items as targets

Hot/Cold Range Protocol: - RED LIGHT/ALARM switch turns range COLD—all shooters cease fire immediately - When COLD: firearms unloaded, bolts open, no handling, shooters remain behind firing line - When OFF (HOT): range is active, visual all-clear required before loading/firing - Required even if you're the only shooter

Downrange Procedures: - Activate RED LIGHT before walking downrange - Verify no one is shooting before moving forward - Check that firing line is completely safe - Clean your area and pick up spent brass when finished - Place ammunition misfires in designated containers—not grass, benches, or garbage

Members may bring guests to the facility. Guests must: - Sign in at the office before entering - Sign a liability waiver (if first-time) - Be accompanied by the member at all times - Follow all South Carolina state firearms laws - Adhere to identical policies as members

Day pass guests get temporary gate access cards and must return them upon exit.

Champion Defense operates with zero tolerance for rule violations: - Members/guests caught breaking rules may be asked to leave - Membership can be revoked - Revoked members are considered trespassing if they return - Law enforcement may be called for enforcement - Any property damage requires compensation

Members provide their own ammunition, paper targets, staplers, and tape. Some items available for purchase on site. Gate access cards are personal—loaning your card to others results in immediate deactivation.
