Christiansburg IWLA operates dedicated ranges and facilities for pistol, rifle, rimfire shooting, and competitive archery. The club maintains multiple ponds stocked with fish for members who want to fish. No experience required—members are happy to teach newcomers any sport they want to learn.
Shooting Sports: - Pistol ranges and IWLA Action Pistol matches - Rimfire competition matches - Trap shooting - .22 range with ongoing maintenance and upgrades
Archery: - Competitive archery bays - Archery skill tests shooting targets out to 60 yards - Two complete Rinehart 3D target sets purchased for summer programs
Fishing: - Multiple ponds on property open to members - Trout rodeo events (partnered with New River Valley Sportsmen for Kids) - Pond stocking in preparation for seasonal events
The club is a major supporter of youth outdoor sports in Montgomery County. They partner with Narrows Elementary Middle School on competitive archery—the school's team has qualified for the NASP State Tournament every year and made the NASP National Championship for two consecutive years. The club helped fund trips to nationals in Louisville, Kentucky.
IWLA has hired 5 BAI (Basic Archery Instruction) certified instructors to run youth programs. They're launching a summer program with Narrows Elementary to teach target-style archery to local youth.
55 student archers at Narrows Elementary, ranging from 4th grade through 12th, with IWLA providing financial support and facility access.
Beyond shooting sports, Christiansburg IWLA runs several outreach initiatives:
IWLA provides facilities annually for a picnic/fishing day for clients with various mental and physical illnesses, emphasizing community access and daily living skills practice.
The club offers new member orientation and training videos covering club rules and facility use. Members receive provisional and active membership status with access to all ranges and facilities.
