Full description and what we offer
Kittitas County Trading operates as both a licensed firearms dealer and pawnshop in downtown Ellensburg. For nearly 50 years, they've been a financial resource for the community—offering collateral loans regulated by Washington State—while also building the largest firearms inventory in Central Washington.
The shop carries handguns, rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloading firearms from top manufacturers:
| Brand | Category |
|---|---|
| Colt | Pistols, Rifles |
| Springfield | Pistols, Rifles |
| Glock | Pistols |
| Ruger | Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns |
| Smith & Wesson | Pistols, Rifles |
Beyond firearms, they stock: - Ammunition (largest selection in Ellensburg) - Holsters - Cleaning supplies - Tactical lights and lasers - Magazines and clips - Optics and scopes - Slings and swivels
Kittitas County Trading employs trained armorers certified by both Glock and Smith & Wesson. They provide limited gunsmithing and parts replacement services, with a specialty in 1911 pistols.
As a Federal Firearms License dealer, they accept transfers from any licensed dealer in the nation. Most major internet sellers already have their FFL on file. They charge $40 per firearm transfer and typically make transfers available for pickup the day after arrival. Retail transfers include Washington State sales tax; private transfers are tax-exempt.
Unlike shops that just want to move inventory, Kittitas County Trading takes time to match you with the right firearm for your actual needs—whether that's hunting, target shooting, concealed carry, hiking/camping, or home defense.
The trick is to find the most powerful gun that YOU can effectively use. If it's not fun to shoot, you won't feel inclined to practice.
Their staff knows which firearms are comfortable and manageable for different shooters. Just because a gun is "small and cute" doesn't mean it has less recoil.
Both buyer and seller must present at the same time with Washington State ID and the firearm. The monetary exchange must happen before arriving at the shop. Private transfers are conducted 10 AM–4 PM, Monday–Saturday only.
If a background check delay occurs and you drove across the state to meet the seller, NICS delays are your responsibility—you'll need to return for pickup another time.
Kittitas County Trading also operates as a full-service pawnshop with regulated loan rates:
103 N Main St, Ellensburg, WA 98926
| Day | Hours |
|---|---|
| Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:30 PM |
| Saturday | 10:00 AM–5:30 PM |
| Sunday | Closed |
Ellensburg's location as a crossroads town means Kittitas County Trading attracts hard-to-find firearms and accessories. Popular items move fast, so calling ahead or checking in frequently can help you score uncommon pieces.
