Interlake Sporting Association started as the Interlake Rod and Gun Club on April 3, 1947. Local hunters and fishermen met on Crawford Warren's forested property east of Kirkland to prepare for hunting season and hold shooting competitions. The organization incorporated as a 501(c)(7) non-profit on May 2, 1950, and has operated continuously from the same Redmond location since Dr. Warren sold the land to ISA on August 1, 1951.
ISA operates multiple shooting disciplines on a natural ravine property that provides enhanced safety:
- •200-yard rifle range - Earth hillsides on all sides for containment
- •Pistol shooting - North Pistol and Action Bay facilities
- •Archery ranges - Multiple designated archery areas
- •Trap shooting - Traditional clay target shooting
- •Muzzle loading - Black powder rifle activities
- •Hunter Education Certification - Basic courses held periodically through Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife
The property's natural ravine design means shooters are surrounded by earth hillsides, making it one of the safest outdoor ranges in the region.
Interlake is private and members-only, but operates public events throughout the year. Here's how membership works:

- •Important: All new members must have a current member sponsor. Sponsors must have been members for at least 6 months and must attend at least one work party per applicant they sponsor.
Joining requires several steps:
1. Find a sponsor - Attend public events or connect with local shooting sports community 2. Complete online application - Submit via their website with sponsor name 3. Pay membership dues - Credit or debit card online 4. Take Range Safety Rules Test - 2.5-hour online course with multiple choice exam 5. Background check - ISA uses third-party screening vendor (applicant responsibility) 6. Pass Safe Handling Exam - Administered by Range Safety Officers, typically once monthly during work parties 7. Attend General Membership Meeting - First Wednesday of month, with your sponsor present (arrive before 7 PM for check-in)
Background check must meet ISA eligibility standards. Disqualifying factors include: ineligibility to own firearms, felonies, theft, dishonesty, violence, abuse, recklessness, pattern of misconduct, or repeat offenses.

If you want to use the archery ranges, you must first: 1. Pass the online "Archery Person in Charge" class 2. Pass the Practical Exam (administered by ISA Range Safety Officers) 3. Then access designated archery ranges
ISA hosts recurring events:
- •Monthly Work Parties - Saturday mornings, 9 AM-1 PM (maintained through at least 2033)
- •Monthly Membership & Board Meetings - First Wednesday of each month, 7 PM
- •Interlake Action Shooters Match - Action shooting competitions held multiple times monthly
- •Public events - Calendar available online for non-members interested in joining
