Willapa Firearms Training

Heath Layman established Willapa Firearms Training in 2018 after two decades as a police officer and firearms instructor. His background isn't just credentials on paper—he's spent over 20 years teaching officers and civilians how to handle firearms safely and effectively.

NRA Certified Instruction: - AR-15 Fundamentals - Basic Shotgun - Concealed Carry (CCW) - Defensive Pistol - Home Defense - Rifle Shooting - Range Safety Officer Course - Personal Protection in the Home - Basic Instructor Training

Advanced Certifications: Layman holds advanced instructor certifications for active shooter response, live-fire vehicle engagements, red dot sight installation on duty pistols, and advanced firearms instruction. He's also an armorer for multiple platforms including AR-15s.

Beyond civilian training, Layman provides instruction to law enforcement agencies across Pacific County. In 2009, he spearheaded creation of a multi-agency firearms training unit in Grays Harbor County that now conducts quarterly training and qualifications for area officers. He writes and approves curricula for involved agencies and provides private instruction to the Long Beach Police Department, Quinault Indian Nation Police Department, and QIN Fish and Game.

Willapa Firearms Training operates a private range in Raymond, southwest Washington. Classes are available to citizens of good repute and law enforcement. This isn't a public shooting bay—instruction happens on a dedicated facility with a professional who knows what he's doing.
