Frank Addington Jr.—The Aspirin Buster—has been performing archery exhibitions across the United States since the early 1990s. What sets him apart isn't just his accuracy; it's his signature technique: he shoots his entire show with his recurve bow behind his back. That's not hyperbole. Hitting a flying baby aspirin while shooting backward is his calling card, and he delivers it at every performance.
"You're looking at the best trick shot in North America...He does it shooting behind his back with his bow not the normal way. Which makes it about a hundred times harder than what anybody else on this continent does." — Chuck Adams, legendary bowhunter
Addington got his first bow at age four in 1971 and learned to shoot instinctively—no sights, no aiming devices. He won state championships, but competitive shooting bored him. By the late 1970s, he was spending hours in his backyard perfecting aerial target shots. His family's retail archery business connected him with archery legends like Fred Bear, Earl Hoyt, and exhibition shooter Rev. Stacy Groscup, who eventually put him on stage in 1986. That performance launched his professional career.
He's performed at major venues including Tavern on the Green in Central Park, the Cow Palace in San Francisco, King Ranch in South Texas, and sports shows, RV expos, corporate events, and private functions. All six LA TV stations featured him in a single day at one California show. CNN's Jeanne Moos dubbed him "the William Tell of popping pills."
Addington is on the pro staff for Hoyt (bows) and Muzzy (broadheads). He uses Hoyt exclusively for his stage shows, bowhunting, and backyard shooting. He's given bows to George Strait, Toby Keith, Coach Mack Brown, and others.
