Full description and what we offer
Colorado Rifle Club started over 100 years ago and operates as a non-profit corporation under Colorado state law. Located at 76099 E. 96th Ave. in Byers—about one hour from Denver—the club sits on 2,565 acres of land specifically designed for competitive and recreational shooting.
Each range is built to NRA and associated organizations' competition standards. Members can shoot:
| Discipline | Details |
|---|---|
| Benchrest | Precision rifle shooting from benches |
| Black Powder | Period firearms and BPCR silhouette |
| Cowboy Action | Competitive cowboy-style shooting |
| High Power | Rifles from 200-1000 yards |
| Long Range Precision Rifle | Extended-distance accuracy |
| NRA Pistol | Handgun competition formats |
| Practical Shooting | Movement-based tactical scenarios |
| Silhouette | Animal-shaped targets at distance |
| Smallbore | .22 caliber rifle competition |
| Sporting Clay | Shotgun clay target events |
| Steel Dog 22LR | .22 rifle steel target shooting |
The ranges are private and open only to members during daylight hours. Non-members can participate in scheduled events at the Match Director's discretion.
New members must attend an orientation meeting to learn club safety rules and facility layout. This is required before access is granted. The club holds orientation meetings monthly (for example, January 31st at 10:00 AM).
The club hosts regular competitions and events:
Safety is the club's stated most important concern. Key rules include:
Prohibited: - 50 cal. BMG cartridges (all ranges) - Full automatic firing, bump firing, fast-fire stocks, binary triggers - Tracer, incendiary, and explosive bullets - Armor-piercing or steel-core bullets on steel targets - Exploding or pyrotechnic targets - Black powder cannons
Driving is restricted to marked roads only. Wildlife is protected on club grounds under an Adams County Conditional Use Permit.
Members renew annually. In January, each member receives an email with a renewal link. After payment, members receive an email receipt containing their 2026 Membership Card. Members must attend mandatory orientation before first use.
Guests can be brought by members and must be supervised at all times (3-guest limit recommended). All guests and competitors must sign a Liability Waiver and Release Form—e-waivers can be completed on the CRC website and are valid for the calendar year.
Approximately one hour driving time from Denver. Close to most shooters but removed from urban pressure.
Emergency response from Byers takes a minimum of 30 minutes. Emergency landline phones are available in the Smallbore Stat Office and East Range Building.
The club maintains a live website with range cameras, weather updates, event schedules, and match results. A Lost & Found contact is available through the website directory.
