Full description and what we offer
Eustis Gun Club traces back to 1920 when Jim Livingston founded the range in Eustis. What started as a small 2-3 acre facility near Golf Links Avenue has evolved into a 25-acre, state-of-the-art shooting complex on 12950 Frankies Rd in Tavares, Lake County. The club spent decades fighting for permanent land—securing a $36,000 loan at 11% interest in the late 1980s, battling zoning applications across three cities, and finally obtaining the deed on May 19, 1990. Members built this facility from the ground up through volunteer labor and careful financial management.
Members access multiple rifle ranges covering 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards, plus a dedicated 200-meter long-range facility with multiple steel targets at 100, 150, and 200 yards. Rifle ranges feature shaded firing lines with fans for comfort during Florida heat. Pocket berms specifically designed for concealed carry practice are available, with movable shooting tables and staging areas for flexibility. All ranges remain accessible 363 days per year as part of membership.
The shotgun field operates 7 days a week and includes: - Automated Trap & Skeet - Automated machines with card-based loading system - 5-Stand - Five-station competitive format - Sporting Clays - Varied targets and scenarios - ATA sanctioned events - Including night skeet shooting
Clay prices run approximately $0.25 each: $6 per round for Trap/Skeet (25 clays), $15 per 2 rounds for Sporting Clays and 5-Stand (60 clays total). Match directors handle setup, scoring, and coordination. Post-match, members can purchase automation cards at the RSO office for unlimited shooting.
Since 1995, the Lake County Pistoleros have hosted Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) and Wild Bunch competitions at EGC. Monthly shoots occur the third Saturday of each month in the fully themed Swampwater Cowboy Town—a western-style range complex built entirely by volunteers between 1998-2001. Competitors use period-correct single-action revolvers, lever-action rifles, and shotguns while dressed in Old West attire. The club welcomes both seasoned competitors and beginners.

The club's 100+ year history reflects genuine community commitment. From Lloyd Quick's decades of volunteer maintenance (honored with a range bearing his name) to modern member-built facilities like Swampwater, EGC operates on principles of self-improvement and shared responsibility. The dedicated board of directors and staff—including President Charles Houben, Vice President James Traynor, and Facility Administrator Dina Houben—maintain high standards for both safety and facility quality.
This is a working member-driven club built by shooters, for shooters.
