Woburn Sportsmen's Association has been operating since 1933 at 155 Middlesex Turnpike in Bedford, Massachusetts—just 3 miles north of the Burlington Mall (Exit 32 on Route 128). The club sits on 90+ acres bordering the Shawsheen River and Billerica, with dedicated facilities for serious shooters across multiple disciplines.

WSA operates as a private club but welcomes guests shooting with members. The main clubhouse includes a recreation room, kitchen, office, and a unique indoor rifle and pistol range. Beyond that:

  • Two pistol ranges: 30-position outdoor covered range (50 yards + turning targets at 25 yards) and a 10-point indoor gallery (50 feet and 10 meter)
  • Indoor rifle range with weekly cleaning and scheduled small bore rifle events
  • Trap field with regular open hours (9am-12pm weekends, 5-7pm weekday evenings)
  • Archery facilities: Two field courses including a 28-target registered course, 3-D course with life-sized targets, and winter indoor league
  • High power range for outdoor precision rifle
  • Black powder range

Arctic winter archery shoots and registered 3-D matches draw competitors from across New England. The club hosts Civilian Marksmanship Program approved competitions.

WSA provides state-certified firearms safety instruction and hunter education:

  • NRA Firearms Safety Course ($nominal fee) – Fulfills Massachusetts LTC Class A training requirement and is open to all adults
  • NRA Home Firearm Safety – Regular Thursday morning courses (9am–2pm) plus women-only sessions
  • Basic Hunter Education – 12–16 hours over weekday or weekend, includes hunting laws, wildlife ID, game care, survival skills. Fulfills Mass General Law requirements for License to Carry Firearms or Firearms ID Card
  • Bowhunter Education – 8+ hour weekend courses covering equipment selection, safety, ethics, and bowhunting methods
  • Clinics – Highpower, service rifle, junior rifle/pistol, trap, archery, ammunition reloading, and instructor certification

All hunter ed courses are pre-registered through MassWildlife (508) 792-7434.

WSA operates dedicated junior archery and junior rifle programs. Junior Air Pistol is also available. Evening courses run Monday and Wednesday; competitive matches are scheduled throughout the season.

The club is affiliated with the NRA and enforces strict safety standards across all disciplines.

The club is private but open to public participation in select programs like Firearms Safety Courses and Civilian Marksmanship Program matches. Office hours are Sunday 10am–2pm by appointment. New members should email [email protected] to schedule.
