Heartland Precision Rifle

Heartland Precision Rifle operates a precision rifle training facility in partnership with Swanson Hunting Acres in Niobrara, Nebraska. Their primary offering is a structured, progressive curriculum designed to take shooters from zero long-range experience to advanced precision rifle competency.

The Niobrara range spans one mile with steel targets positioned from 300 yards to 1,760 yards (1 mile). Multiple firing points, elevated platforms, quality benches, and pavilions provide shelter and shooting flexibility. The location sits in genuinely scenic country—one of the most visually relaxed rifle ranges in America, according to their documentation.

They also maintain access to private properties in Bristow, Nebraska along the Niobrara River and South Central Texas for extended long-range engagements beyond two miles (ELR training).

• •Long Range Precision I (LRP-1) is their most popular course. It's a single-day program that covers fundamentals of marksmanship, rifle competency, basic spotter duties, MIL/MOA math, wind reading, ballistic apps, and data collection. Most students achieve impacts on steel at 1,000+ yards by end of day.

• •Long Range Precision II (LRP-2) focuses on advanced scope utilization—using your reticle to range targets and execute hold-over/hold-off techniques for wind and bullet drop compensation.

• •Long Range Precision III (LRP-3) integrates ballistic technology with spotter proficiency. Students work with atmospheric data, ballistic apps, range finders, spotting scopes, Kestrels, and chronographs to achieve downrange accuracy. Wind reading and mirage interpretation are emphasized. The course includes hands-on spotter practice at 1,000+ yards.

• •Long Range Precision IV (LRP-4) is the capstone—30+ hours of cumulative training culminates in an evaluated qualification covering range estimation, unknown distance engagements, wind calling, reticle work, technology utilization, and positional shooting. Successful completion earns a Certificate of Advanced Rifle Competency.
