Location details and information
Long Island Shooting Range of Brookhaven operates on 300 acres with separate facilities for every major shooting sport. Under new management, the range has installed 60 new Atlas machines across its clay shooting venues and maintains dedicated ranges for rifle, pistol, airgun, and archery.
Trap Shooting — Clay targets launched from a single machine at heights up to 15 feet and distances to 50 yards. Includes singles and doubles. Targets reach preset patterns.
Skeet Shooting — Two fixed launch stations with shooters positioned between them. Clays fly unpredictably as you move through stations.
Sporting Clays — Mimics hunting conditions with targets thrown at varying speeds, angles, and trajectories—both airborne and rolling.
Five Stand — Variant of sporting clays. Shoot from five different positions, each with unique target presentations and angles.
FITASC — International discipline replicating live game hunting. Multiple traps across a parcour present unpredictable trajectories and combinations that mimic flight paths of game birds.
60 new Atlas machines installed under new management — the most significant upgrade to the range's clay shooting infrastructure.
The rifle range features 18 positions at 200 yards and 21 positions at 100 yards. Prone shooting on comfortable mats available.
The pistol range is the only one on Long Island with steel plates, plus traditional paper target capability. Positions range from 7 to 50 yards.
Airgun range also available—contact for availability.
The only public range in New York offering Cosmic Clays. High-powered black lights and fluorescent clays allow you to shoot 5-Stand in a heated, all-weather container or trap under the stars.

"Hands down, the best public shooting range in New York." — Warren S.
"We've been coming here about a year now, and it's the best range on Long Island. The addition of steel targets has been a major improvement. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, especially the range safety officers." — Luke M.
"The range is well laid out and maintained extremely well in an incredibly beautiful setting. The office is very well run. It felt like a country club compared to other ranges we've visited." — Jeff M.
