Saugerties Fish & Game Club has operated continuously since 1884—making it one of New York State's oldest active sportsmen's clubs. Founded just 19 years after the Civil War ended, the club grew from a core of industrialists, shop owners, attorneys, doctors, and craftsmen who recognized the need for a community shooting facility.
2024 marks the club's 140th anniversary year.
The club sits on nearly 100 acres off Fish Creek Road in the town of Saugerties, Ulster County. The facilities are built for serious shooters:
- •100-yard rifle range with indoor and outdoor covered shooting positions, heated in winter, multiple sight-in benches. Open most days until dusk.
- •25-yard pistol range with 12 enclosed, heated shooting stations. Separate area for pins, bullseye, combat silhouette, and falling plates.
- •2 ATA-certified trap ranges, each with 5 stations. The club hosts 3 ATA-sanctioned shoots yearly, plus 3 county-wide shoots.
- •3-D walk-through archery range plus dedicated bale range. Winter and moon shoots held annually.
- •Black powder woods-walk course with challenging targets and organized shoots twice yearly.
- •Large heated clubhouse with fully-equipped kitchen and ample parking.
