Durham Pistol and Rifle Club (DPRC) was organized in 1946 as a private, member-only organization to promote sportsmanship, competition, and training in pistol and rifle marksmanship. The club started at a small range off Pickett Road in Durham, North Carolina, and hosted ten annual North Carolina State Championship tournaments in its first twenty-two years. In 1987, the membership voted to relocate to a less populated area, moving to its current home in Alamance County, south of Mebane in Haw River, NC.
DPRC operates: - 40-point pistol range for bullseye precision shooting - 300-yard rifle range for long-range work - 20-point IR 50/50-sanctioned benchrest range for precision rimfire - 150-yard .22LR dedicated range for rimfire training - Multiple general-purpose ranges for various shooting disciplines
The club sponsors competitions in: - 2-Gun Rimfire - Multi-gun events with rimfire rifles - Bullseye (Precision) Pistol - NRA-sanctioned accuracy competitions - High Power Rifle - NRA-sanctioned rifle matches - Precision Rimfire - Target-focused .22LR shooting - Vintage Military Rifle - CMP-sanctioned competitions - Single Shot Cartridge Rifle Matches - Traditional rifle events - Women Of Steel - Recurring women-only shooting events designed to introduce the shooting sports - Muzzleloader matches - Black powder competition - Mini Palma - Small-bore precision rifle matches - Action Matches - Dynamic shooting competitions
DPRC regularly sends teams to the National Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio.
All members must maintain active NRA membership while a member of DPRC.
Membership requirements: - Must be at least 18 years old - Must pass a NICS background check (valid NC concealed handgun permit, state/federal background check, or FFL copy) - Must be an active NRA member - Cannot have felony convictions, domestic violence misdemeanor, dishonorable discharge, or mental health disqualifications

Members get gate card access and can bring up to 4 guests. No additional charges to shoot once you're a member. Targets and frames are provided; members bring their own staples and stapler.

DPRC has a 1500-member cap. The wait list is first-come, first-served with typical wait times of 6-9 months. New orientations are held in spring and fall based on membership openings. Applicants should expect a deadline to respond to their invitation and must complete registration by the orientation deadline or be removed from the list.
DPRC matches and public events are open to the general public and provide an opportunity to see the club and meet members.
The club is private and not open to the public. Visitors are only allowed with a member or when participating in a public event. DPRC uses a digital kiosk check-in system with QR codes for contactless registration. Guests can pre-check in before arriving or complete check-in at the clubhouse kiosk. Guest badges are printed at check-in.
