Full description and what we offer
The Sheboygan Rifle and Pistol Club operates a multi-discipline shooting program that runs matches and leagues from spring through fall. Whether you're into precision rifle work, handgun accuracy, or tactical speed shooting, the club hosts regular competitions open to both members and the general public.
The club schedules four featured high power rifle matches each year at distances up to 200 yards, letting shooters test marksmanship at extended range. All matches are open to the public and club-owned firearms are available if you don't own one.

Bulls-eye shooting emphasizes pure accuracy with handguns at paper targets using a turning target system—targets only expose during your allotted time. Courses fire from standing position, one-handed grip, at either 25 or 50 yards:
Equipment options include .22 rimfire, centerfire .32+, or .45 caliber pistols. Any sights work—metallic, red-dot, or telescopic.
Contact Mike Reil at 1-414-630-4749 or [email protected] for rules and league information.
The SRPC Action Shooters schedule two matches per month throughout summer. This discipline tests speed, accuracy, movement, and reloading while shooting through scenario-based courses from barricades and ports. Scoring uses "hit factor" (points divided by time).
What you need: - Reliable handgun: revolver or semi-auto (9mm, .38 Special, or larger) - Secure strong-side hip holster - Minimum 3 magazines or speed loaders - 2+ magazine pouches - Sturdy belt to support weight - Eye and ear protection - Minimum 70 rounds ammunition
Contact Dave Hansen at 1-920-627-1583 or [email protected]. The club encourages observers and helps newcomers get started.
Starting September 2010, the club hosts buffalo gun competitions using single-shot rifles from the 1800s buffalo hunting era—Sharps, Ballards, Winchesters, Remington rolling blocks, and similar designs. The gong match holds the third Saturday in May from 2-5PM.
Course of fire: - 10 shots off cross sticks at a small chicken metallic target at 200 yards - Final 5 shots offhand at a large steel ram target
Eligible calibers include .45-70, .40-60, .50-70 with bullet weights from 375 to 535+ grains. Black powder encouraged but smokeless also allowed. Cast bullets only to protect the gongs.
New shooters always welcome—the club provides extra ammunition and firearms to borrow.
Matches run 2:30-5PM (avoiding shooting into sun) and operate as growing recreational competitions. Many shooters transition to black powder and advance to shooting up to 1000 yards at ranges like Lodi, WI.

The club participates in the regional NEW High Power League—a competitive circuit across five host clubs. $10 league fee plus $10 per match. NRA membership required. Matches follow NRA Service rules with 3 sighters allowed.
Match format: 1. Offhand—10 rounds in 10 minutes 2. Rapid Sitting—10 rounds in 60 seconds 3. Rapid Prone—10 rounds in 70 seconds 4. Slow Prone—20 rounds in 20 minutes
Sheboygan hosts the September 14 match (7:30AM-5PM). Contact Mike Hansen at 920-458-0493 or [email protected]. Five clubs rotate hosting: Twin City, Kiel, Nicolet, Appleton, and Sheboygan.
Fired from 100 or 200-yard lines, 15-20 shots for record with 3 sighters. This discipline lets shooters use rifles they already own—AR-15, AR-10, M1, or M1A types with Harris bipods or range bags as front rests.
Allowed: - Metallic, telescopic, red-dot, or holographic sights (scopes limited to 15 power) - Soft rear rests without "ears" - Shooting mats (carpet or commercial mat)
Not allowed: - F-Class bipods, sandbags, hard rests - Suppressors or muzzle brakes - Stocks extending to ground
Club provides rifles, ammo, carpeting, and spotting scopes if needed. Pre-registration encouraged via Greg Olson at 920-901-0373 or [email protected].
