Full description and what we offer
Mid America Arms operates as a walk-in only gun store at 8205 Gravois Road in St. Louis. They don't do online sales, but they maintain inventory of popular firearms and accessories from major manufacturers including Sig Sauer, Glock, Beretta, Smith & Wesson, Browning, Remington, Colt, FN, Springfield Armory, Sturm Ruger, and Walther.
As a licensed Class 3 dealer with an active SOT, they stock suppressors for rimfire, pistols, rifles, and shotguns. They also keep muzzle devices in stock and can special-order short-barreled rifles and shotguns from manufacturers. Popular suppressors in stock include models from Silencerco (Sparrow, Osprey, Warlock) and Surefire (SOCOM 762 Mini).
They handle three types of transfers:
| Transfer Type | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Internet transfers | $100 per firearm | Pre-approval required; 30-day pickup window |
| NFA transfers | $150 per item | Pre-approval required; excludes ATF fees |
| Person-to-person (in-state) | $100 | Both parties present; schedule ahead |
- •NFA process clarity: Unlike many dealers, Mid America Arms walks you through the entire suppressor purchase process step-by-step. They explain fingerprinting requirements, Form 4 completion, BATFE check procedures ($200 tax stamp), and whether a trust makes sense for your situation. They also note that as of July 2016, CLEO sign-off is no longer required.
They process about 2/3 of NFA transfers as individuals rather than trusts. They explain when a basic trust ($100-$200) makes financial sense versus individual transfers.
Mid America Arms doesn't offer CCW classes in-store, but their staff answers questions about Missouri's requirements. Key details they provide:
- •8-hour training requirement from state-certified instructor ($100-$150 typical cost)
- •Application fees vary by county: St. Louis County $90, City of St. Louis $100, Jefferson County $100, St. Charles County $100
- •Permit validity: 5 years; renewals allowed up to 6 months after expiration
- •Age minimum: 19 (though federal handgun purchases still require age 21+)
- •Illinois note: Missouri residents cannot carry in Illinois under reciprocity
They partner with the Missouri Department of Conservation for basic firearms training. The MDC offers free-to-low-cost classes at Jay Henges Shooting Range (High Ridge, off I-44), where range time costs just $3/hour.
They also help connect shooters with first responder programs and promote 2nd Amendment education through the National Rifle Association and Second Amendment Foundation.
