Billings Rod & Gun Club operates five distinct shooting facilities on a single property near Billings, Montana. Members get access to all of them for one membership fee—a setup that's rare in the region.

Beyond range access, members participate in:
- •Competitive events: State championships in archery, action pistol, cowboy action, skeet, and sporting clays
- •Weekly leagues: Organized shooting competitions in multiple disciplines
- •Big Sky State Games competitions
- •RSO training: Free NRA Range Safety Officer certification classes offered to members (class of February 1, 2025 included, with expectation of two half-day volunteer shifts on rifle range; $20/hour reimbursement)
- •Guest passes: Bring friends and family to experience the ranges
- •Annual open-to-public range day: Typically mid-September on the big bore rifle range

- •Road Access: Maintained all-weather access road with proactive snow removal and grading. Spring 2025 improvements include new culverts for drainage.
The president noted in July 2024: "While the cost of membership at BRGC is comparable to other area ranges, the amount and diversity of shooting disciplines here is unsurpassed."
The club takes safety seriously:
- •AED device located inside main clubhouse door (always unlocked, available 24/7)
- •Trauma kits placed on ranges (tourniquets, clotting agents, bandages for major wounds—not casual first aid)
- •Range Safety Officers deployed weekends during hunting season
- •Club rules strictly enforced, including prohibition of unaccompanied minors under 18 on any range
- •Jeff Cooper's Four Rules emphasized: All guns always loaded. Never let muzzle cover anything you won't destroy. Finger off trigger until sights on target. Be sure of target and what's behind it.
The four pistol range plate racks have specific usage guidelines:
- •No rifles or shotguns
- •Maintain 10-15 yard minimum distance
- •No magnum loads at close range
- •Don't lean other targets against frame
- •Report damage immediately to caretaker

The club operates four divisions with separate officer elections: - Archery Division - Rifle/Pistol Division - Skeet Division - Sporting Clays Division
Each division hosts independent events and welcomes new participants.
The club is conscientious about neighboring property development (inner belt loop construction in Billings area) and maintains standards around facility respect. President's messages emphasize treating the facility as something "you want to pass down to your children and grandchildren."
As one message noted: "The Rod & Gun Club is your club and you can make as much of it as you'd like." The club consistently recruits volunteers for range staffing, event support, and board positions.
