Bismarck-Mandan Rifle & Pistol Association

The Bismarck-Mandan Rifle & Pistol Association (BMRPA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 dedicated to promoting safe and responsible shooting sports in central North Dakota. The club operates both indoor and outdoor range facilities and hosts competitive events year-round across multiple shooting disciplines.

BMRPA members and visiting shooters can compete in:

Volunteer discount: $100 waived for members who volunteer 8+ hours annually.

All new members must complete a safety orientation covering NRA fundamentals, club policies, and range commands.

BMRPA operates dedicated indoor and outdoor ranges. The outdoor facility, the Fried Family Marksmanship Center, sits on land donated by Marlin Fried—a founding father of the club and former owner of Gun City, the legendary Main Street firearms shop in Bismarck. The facility includes multiple shooting stations and host regular maintenance through volunteer work days.

BMRPA offers certified instruction in: - Firearms safety fundamentals - Basic marksmanship - North Dakota Concealed Carry Classes (instructor: Dave Shaffer) - Discipline-specific training for cowboy, precision, and tactical shooting

BMRPA operates through dedicated discipline-specific committees. Each shooting sport has a chairperson managing matches, rules, and member coordination. The club maintains an active Board of Directors and runs regular board meetings.

Founded by competitive shooters coming together, BMRPA has grown into a hub for North Dakota shooting sports. The club actively recruits female shooters (dedicated Ladies Only training), law enforcement participants, and youth through junior marksmanship programs. They host public events including New Year's Eve open houses and community work days.
