Blair County Game, Fish and Forestry Association

The Blair County Game, Fish and Forestry Association has been operating since 1920 in Riggles Gap, just north of Altoona. What started as a conservation organization has become the hub for shooting sports, hunting, and outdoor recreation in Blair County.

The club sits on over 500 acres with a native trout stream open to public use. Their property includes:

• •Shooting ranges: 5 yards to 300 yards
• •Trap ranges: Shoot most Sundays throughout the year and Tuesday evenings (seasonal)
• •50ft indoor range: Available for special events
• •Trout pond: Members-only, stocked year-round
• •Hiking trails throughout the property
• •Chief Logan Lodge: Available for rental, along with pavilion and outdoor kitchen

22LR Pistol League - Running 10 weeks per season (practice starts November, league runs January through March). Shoots NRA Bullseye format indoors at 50 feet off-hand. Entry is $4 per night ($2 for shooters under 18). You need 8 of 10 weeks for score. Shoots consist of: - 10 shots slow fire (10 minutes) - 5 shots timed fire in 20 seconds - 5 shots timed fire in 20 seconds - 5 shots rapid fire in 10 seconds - 5 shots rapid fire in 10 seconds

No cash prizes. All skill levels welcome and you don't have to attend every week.

The club emphasizes teaching the next generation:

• •Hunter Safety Education - Certified courses
• •Archery programs - Including 3D archery events scheduled for 2026

Members have competed county, state, and nationwide in various disciplines. Awards include Tri-County Trap League championships, 4-H air rifle titles, and sub-junior muzzleloader competitions.
