West Point Gun Club

West Point Gun Club is a private shooting facility located approximately 6 miles outside West Point, Virginia, serving as the home range for competitive cowboy action shooting and multiple rifle disciplines.

West Point Gun Club (WPGC) is a member-owned private shooting range dedicated to hosting competitive matches and providing facilities for various shooting sports. The club is known for organizing high-quality competitive events that attract shooters from across the region.

WPGC hosts several regular shooting programs open to the public:

• •SASS Cowboy Action Shooting - Monthly matches featuring staged scenarios with period-appropriate firearms
• •Smoke on the Mattaponi - Annual June match (4th Saturday) and major competitive event
• •Gathering on the Mattaponi - 2-day annual match in March featuring 12 stages
• •Shoot for a Cure - October match benefiting the American Cancer Society (Pat Graves Memorial)
• •High Power Rifle Matches - Precision rifle competitions
• •Double Action Steel - Steel target shooting disciplines
• •Rimfire Steel - Small caliber rifle competitions
• •Wild Bunch Matches - Pistol-caliber rifle shooting events
• •Mattaponi Sundowners - Regular shoots on 3rd Sunday and 4th Saturday (July-September)

The range is reserved for club members and their guests on regular shooting days. Public access is available during scheduled monthly matches. The club is currently at membership capacity with a waiting list for prospective members. Interested individuals must submit a completed application with supporting documentation to be placed on the waiting list and will be processed in order as openings become available.

WPGC has established itself as a premier venue for cowboy action shooting and precision rifle sports in Virginia. The club's signature events draw competitors and spectators regionally, with notable fundraising achievements including over $110,000 raised for the American Cancer Society through the Shoot for a Cure match since its inception in 2012.
