The Western Montana Fish & Game Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has served Montana hunters, shooters, and sportsmen for over a century. Today, they own and operate Deer Creek Shooting Center (DCSC), a full-service private range in East Missoula dedicated to safe, accessible recreational shooting.
DCSC membership opens access to one of the most complete shooting facilities in western Montana. The range includes:
Pistol Ranges - Three 50-yard bays with benches, covered firing points, and target backers - Three 35-yard bays with benches and target backers - Ten short-range bays (20-35 yards) with benches and backers, including two covered positions - Dedicated 25-yard youth bay with benches and backers
Rifle & Distance Shooting - Multiple rifle bays extending to 100 and 300 yards - Provided target backers at designated distances - Safe berms designed to contain fire safely
Specialty Ranges - Shotgun bay for clay and slug work - Dedicated archery bay - Plinker bays for casual shooting
DCSC hosts monthly matches throughout the year:
Matches run 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM in designated bays, with events posted on their calendar.
The WMFGA prioritizes young shooters. Youth under 16 can use the facility with direct supervision and access the dedicated 25-yard bay. Youth programs teach firearm safety and marksmanship fundamentals, supporting the next generation of responsible gun owners.
All members complete online safety training and a quiz before accessing the range. The facility enforces strict range rules:
Safety First: Members must assume all guns are loaded, keep muzzles downrange, and follow cease-fire procedures. No alcohol, drugs, or mind-altering substances allowed on property.
Three membership types are available:
| Membership Type | Access | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Annual | DCSC access | 1 year |
| Lifetime | DCSC access | Lifetime |
| Sportsman | Limited | 1 year |
Applicants must be eligible for a Montana hunting license and qualified for unescorted access.
Members can bring up to 2 guests at a time. The same person may visit twice per year as a guest. Youth under 16 require direct supervision from a member.
