The Oregon State Shooting Association (OSSA) is a statewide organization dedicated to promoting safe, responsible shooting sports participation across Oregon. Working in partnership with the Oregon Association of Shooting Ranges (OASR) and Oregon Firearms Safety Coalition (OFSC), OSSA serves as a clearinghouse for range access, competition opportunities, and community safety programs.

OSSA sanctions competitions in multiple disciplines:

• •Handgun Sports - Bullseye competition (the most popular form of pistol target shooting in the US), International/Olympic-style competition, silhouette shooting, and practical pistol disciplines including Action Pistol, IPSC, and Steel Challenge. Annual state championships are held, with competitors divided into classifications from High Master to Marksman.

• •Highpower Rifle - Long-range precision rifle competitions

• •Smallbore & Air Rifle - Indoor and precision air rifle events

• •Cowboy Action Shooting - Historical firearms competition

• •Muzzleloader - Traditional and modern muzzleloading events

OSSA's State Distinguished Awards program recognizes top shooters across multiple disciplines and skill levels.

OSSA partners with 80+ shooting ranges across Oregon, from Portland to the Oregon Coast to Eastern Oregon. Member facilities include:

• •Trap and skeet clubs (Albany, Hillsboro, Bend, Tillamook)
• •Rifle and pistol ranges (Portland, Eugene, Salem, Medford, La Grande)
• •Specialized ranges for air rifle, muzzleloader, and archery
• •Public facilities like the Public Safety Training Center in Portland

The partnership ensures ranges have access to professional resources for design, membership management, safety protocols, and environmental stewardship.
